1) Place an order on www.protuningfreaks.com for your BM3 license. You'll receive an activation email with your VIN number and your software activation key.

2) Ensure you have the DME readout file from the dealer you worked with to unlock. This is the data that was on the DME at the time the unlock was done, usually stock data unless the car had a tune prior.

3a) Using Laptop - Connect your laptop or BM3 WIFI device to the OBD port using ENET cable. Install Java JDK version 8 (link here). Download the latest BM3 OBD Agent software for your laptop (link herej). NOTE: Java 9 is NOT supported and you MUST download the JDK, not the Java Runtime Environment.

3b) Using BM3 WIFI device - If using the bootmod3 WIFI Device it comes preconfigured and you simply power it up from a USB connection in your vehicle and connect it to the OBD port with the ENET cable. If not using the USB tethering to your phone the device will attempt to auto-connect to a WIFI network called bootmod3, password bootmod3, and then connect with the bootmod3 servers. You can start a WIFI hotspot on your phone for the device to use as your hotspot's data connection, or, you can change the default WIFI settings on the WIFI device by following these instructions.

4) Ignition On and see gas gauge show tank level (while engine is OFF) and go to the BM3 website:

http://www.bootmod3.net

You'll see the VIN displayed. Click the VIN button and you'll be prompted for the activation key (in your email) and the DME readout file (which you should have from the bootmod3 DME unlock dealer). Once both are selected, click Activate.

Once activated you will see your VIN in the devices screen and a label on it indicating “OBD CONNECTED”. Activation is complete.

Click on the OTS Maps menu and choose an appropriate OTS Map for your modifications and octane and click GET TUNE. Go to My Maps, select the tune you chose and click the FLASH button.
